Privacy Policy

Last updated: 11.06.2026

LurkViewer is built to be as private as possible. We collect only what we need to run the Service, and this policy explains exactly what we collect and why.

This Privacy Policy explains how LurkViewer collects, uses and shares your personal information while you use the Service. By using the Service you agree to the collection and use of your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Policy. This Privacy Policy forms part of our Terms of Service. We will review and may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes to this Privacy Policy will become effective when we post the revised Privacy Policy on this page.

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or our privacy practices, please contact us at [email protected]

What information do we collect?

We respect your privacy and keep data collection to a minimum. The information we collect depends on how you use the Service.

For anonymous visitors (browsing the Service without creating an account):

  • We do not require an Instagram account, email address, or any other personal information.
  • We do not track your browsing activity outside of LurkViewer.
  • We do not request access to your Instagram login credentials.

For registered users (those who create an account):

  • We collect the email address you provide for the sole purpose of authenticating you and managing your account.
  • If you purchase a subscription, additional information related to your subscription status (such as plan type and renewal date) is associated with your account.
  • We do not request, store, or have access to your Instagram credentials at any time.

In all cases, we may collect anonymous, aggregated usage information — such as device type, browser type, approximate location at country level, and aggregated patterns of how features of the Service are used — for analytics purposes to improve the Service. This information cannot be used to identify you personally.

How we store and protect your data

Personal data you give us is kept only for as long as we actually need it to run the Service. We process personal data on one of the following grounds: (a) you have given consent; (b) processing is required to provide a Service you signed up for; (c) the data was already made public and lies in the public domain; or (d) processing is required by applicable law or a binding decision of a court or competent authority.

We apply reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your data against unauthorized access, accidental loss, and unintended disclosure. The Service is delivered over HTTPS, and access to stored data is restricted to staff who need it to operate the Service.

Purposes of collection

We use the information we collect about you to provide and maintain the Service, authenticate registered users, process subscriptions and payments, communicate with you about your account, analyze the performance of the Service for marketing and strategic development purposes, and to maintain, improve or modify the Service.

We rely on our legitimate interests, described above, to process your data. We may also use the information provided by you directly to us in order to correspond with you and address any issues you raise about the Service. We do not collect or process any special categories of personal data. We do not undertake automated decision-making or profiling on the data which are provided to us.

Payment processing

If you choose to purchase a subscription, payment processing is handled by a third-party payment provider (a PCI-compliant payment processor). When you make a payment, you provide your payment details (such as card information and billing address) directly to that payment provider. We do not store your full payment card details on our servers; we only receive a confirmation of the transaction and metadata sufficient to manage your subscription (such as the plan, renewal date, and a transaction reference).

The payment provider processes your payment information in accordance with its own privacy policy and applicable payment-card industry standards. We recommend reviewing the payment provider's privacy practices when you make a purchase.

Use of cookies

The Service uses cookies, web beacons, pixel tags, and similar storage technologies. A cookie is a small text file your browser stores so the Service can recognize the same browser across requests. A cookie identifies your browser, not you personally.

We use cookies for two purposes: (1) functional cookies that are required for the Service to work (for example, to keep you signed in to your account or to remember your selected language), and (2) analytics cookies that help us understand how the Service is used in aggregate. Analytics cookies are loaded only after you grant consent through our cookie banner.

You may, at any time, configure your browser to accept all cookies, notify you when a cookie is issued, or reject all cookies. The way to do this depends on the browser being used (please consult its "Help" function). You may choose to decline all cookies, but if you do, you may be limited to certain areas of the Service. By using our Service you agree to our use of functional cookies; analytics cookies are loaded only with your explicit consent.

Children's protection

The Service is not intended for children under sixteen (16). If we ever discover that we hold data belonging to a child below that age, we delete it. Parents or legal guardians who suspect we may hold a child’s data can write to [email protected] and we will act on the request promptly.

Data sharing with third parties

We may share your personal data with our affiliates who may access your personal data to help us develop, maintain and provide our Service, and with service providers that provide us support for the Service (including hosting, analytics, customer support and payment processing). We may share certain information such as your approximate location, browser and cookie data, and other data relating to your use of the Service with our business partners to deliver personalized advertisements that may be of interest to you.

We may also share non-personal data with interested third parties to help them understand the usage patterns for certain services or conduct independent research based on such anonymous usage data. Within our Service, there may be links to third-party websites or applications. We are not responsible for the content or privacy compliance of third-party websites or applications. You should check those websites or applications for their privacy statements and applicable terms.

Your rights under GDPR

If you live in the European Economic Area, the General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR") gives you a defined set of rights over your personal data: you can request a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct or delete it, restrict how we use it, object to specific processing activities, request portability of the data you provided to us, and withdraw any consent you previously gave at any time.

You also have the right to restrict our use of information that constitutes your personal data for marketing purposes, and to lodge a complaint or direct questions to the data protection authority. In the event your personal information is transferred, stored, or processed outside of the EEA, we will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your personal information is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy and GDPR.

Your rights under CCPA

The California Consumer Privacy Act ("CCPA") provides additional rights to California residents to know, delete, and opt-out, and requires businesses collecting or disclosing personal information to provide notices and means to exercise rights. We do not generally sell information as the term "sell" is traditionally understood. To the extent "sale" under the CCPA is interpreted to include the activities set out in this Privacy Policy, we will comply with applicable law as to such activity. You have the right to know certain details about our data practices and the right to delete the personal information we have collected from you.

Contact information

If you would like to exercise your rights, please send your request to [email protected]. In the request, please specify which right you are seeking to exercise and the scope of the request. This email may also be used in case you have any questions regarding your personal data use or about this Privacy Policy.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally to reflect improvements in our Service. Any updates will be posted on this page. Continued use of LurkViewer after changes means you accept the revised Privacy Policy.
